Lying to Me Out Loud
Anonymous
Hey you, yes you, the one I really believe.
the one that spiked me up and thrown me down
made me beg on my knees
Made my heart skip a beat
and made me plead
make me say that I’m sorry
tell me what to do
made me think of your stupid political shit
look what you’ve put me through
hard ships and harsh slips that almost made me go and hang with the big man
the one up top, you know the one with the holy land
you think it’s funny like it’s a silly little game
using us as your pawns while you feel no shame
well rook to E 10 fucker, know the name of that rule?
It means check mate bitch, it’s over, we're through
the game is life, and I’m not taking this anymore
its time for me to get even on the score
your way of thinking is a mind game
but your leash has broken and you can’t keep me tame
your lies have slipped right out of play
you shouldn’t quit now it’s just getting fun
the hand of the saint has to decide your fate
written in some grammatical pun
he will change your mind and what you say
maybe turn your hair to straw and your skin to clay
then we can play dolly
it will be so much fun
to rip you in half
or mutate your face so you make all the children run
What you were to me, was a dictator
on a faulty scale
you never can really tell the truth
and when you do your mind changes the way you exhale
you were too good to be true
I thought there was hope for us yet
but I swallowed all that, guess what’s left
Regret.

- Lastly, take a step back and question it all: is this poetry? What makes it a poem? Think about "doodle" and "babble" and the signs of poetry that we discussed in class.
